Olé Olé Olé!I can still hear the banging of drums, the horns and the whistles. I still feel the Latin rhythm and the Salsa beat. I’m still swaying with a mamba twist.
Today was just that kind of day in Toronto.
While the middle match between France and Switzerland did not bear any fruit (no one really likes a goalless match), the day’s other games brought real excitement, and kept the flames of football passion burning bright.
The morning’s match ignited the Korean district near Bloor St. and Christie, as Korea reigned supreme with a 2-1 victory over Togo. The Christie Pitts became a sea of red as fans streamed out of their businesses and into the streets, adorned in their firey red team shirts.
I met these lovely people at the corner of Christie and Bloor, sitting calmly, watching the sun set over the field, still revelling in their team’s effort. Clearly, they are filled with confidence, and have no doubts about who will win the cup.
Now… to College and Ossington.
Madness.
Mayhem.
Delight.
This video footage was at half time. ONLY HALF TIME…
Word definitely got out. Come one, come all! Brazil has beaten Croatia! Brazil has won the day! And the place to gather is La Cervejaria!
It was standing room only, as many fans were forced to watch the match from outside the bar.
But, that didn’t stop kids of all ages from enjoying the fiesta outside.

Even Ontario NDP Leader Howard Hampton came out to celebrate!
And when it was all said and done…
(Get your dancing shoes one… you’re going to love it!)
